ICAO 24-bit Address (Hex Code)
The ICAO 24-bit Address, also known as the Hex Code due to its display format, is a unique identification assigned to an aircraft’s Mode S transponder. This code is registered to the aircraft and rarely changes, and is displayed on its certificate of registration. The Hex Code is used by air traffic control to identify and track the aircraft’s position and flight information, enabling efficient and safe air traffic control operations.
