A rotating beacon is a lighting device strategically positioned near an airport that aids pilots in locating the airport primarily at night. It operates by rotating a beam of light in a circular motion that can be seen from a far distance, making it visible to pilots from different angles. The beacon is usually installed at a high point to ensure good visibility.
