Threshold Crossing Height (TCH)

Threshold Crossing Height (TCH) is a theoretical measurement in aviation that refers to the height above the runway threshold at which an aircraft’s glideslope antenna would be positioned if the aircraft maintained the trajectory established by the mean Instrument Landing System (ILS) glideslope or Microwave Landing System (MLS) glidepath. TCH is an essential factor that pilots consider during the approach and landing phases of flight, as it measures the distance between the point of touchdown and the beginning of the runway. In other words, the TCH is a crucial parameter that provides pilots with guidance on the optimum altitude at which to cross the threshold of the runway to achieve a safe and successful landing.
