Yoke is an essential input device that pilots use to control an aircraft’s movement, pitch, and altitude. The yoke system resembles a car’s steering wheel but is specially designed to manage the movement of airplanes. It is a critical component that allows the pilot to direct the aircraft in the desired direction and maintain its stability. By manipulating the yoke, the pilot can adjust the pitch and roll of the aircraft so that it ascends or descends, or banks left or right. The yoke connects directly to the aircraft’s control surfaces, which operate the various systems required to fly, such as the ailerons, elevator, and rudder. The yoke system’s functionality is thus vital to the aircraft’s safe and efficient operation.
