Terminal Arrival Area (TAA)

TAA is a procedure utilized for seamlessly transitioning incoming aircraft equipped with FMS and/or GPS navigational tools. The primary purpose of TAA is to provide a more efficient and effective method for guiding incoming aircraft into the terminal airspace while minimizing the risk of conflicts with other aircraft. The TAA area typically contains a “T” structure that serves as a NoPT (no procedure turn) for aircraft utilizing the approach. This structure helps ensure the aircraft’s safe navigation and approach into the terminal airspace. The TAA works in conjunction with other navigational systems, such as Automatic Terminal Information Service (ATIS) and Air Traffic Control (ATC) communications, to ensure the safe and timely landing of aircraft.
